How do you protect the platform from AI?

We understand the growing challenges artists face with AI-generated artwork flooding many portfolio platforms, pattern sites, and print-on-demand services. Our goal is to provide a safe, curated space for real pattern designers to showcase their work—free from AI interference.

We’re not anti-AI—but we are #ProArtist.

AI isn’t going anywhere, and we acknowledge its presence in the creative world. However, on Patterned, we’re committed to prioritizing original, human-made designs by real artists.

How do you prevent AI-generated designs from appearing on the platform?

While it’s nearly impossible to prevent 100% of AI-generated content, we’ve put key safeguards in place:

  • Invite-only access: Our community is built by real artists inviting other real artists.
  • Ongoing moderation: We actively monitor uploads and investigate suspicious content or accounts.
  • Community reporting: Artists can report suspected AI-generated patterns for review.

How do you check images for AI?

We use a mix of internal review tools and community feedback to evaluate artwork uploaded to Patterned:

  • Artwork is screened upon submission.
  • Our team continuously reviews new content for AI traits.
  • Artists can flag designs they suspect are AI-generated.

This multi-layered approach helps us keep the platform clean and focused on authentic, human creativity.

What happens if AI-generated art is detected?

If a submitted pattern is flagged as likely being created using AI:

  1. The artist is notified and given a chance to respond or remove the artwork.
  2. If the issue isn’t resolved—or further violations occur—the account may be suspended in accordance with our Terms of Service.
  3. The inviting artist (if applicable) may also be reviewed for future participation.

We’re here to build a platform that uplifts real pattern artists. If you ever see something suspicious, please don’t hesitate to report it—we take every report seriously.
